Bob Speller
We were sorry to hear of the recent passing of Bob Speller. Although not an active walker for some time now many of our longer standing members fondly remember the walks he led for us, usually on Wednesdays, some years ago.

Car Sharing
For environmental, financial and practical reasons, we encourage car sharing. Petrol is expensive and parking often limited. A reasonable contribution to the driver's costs is expected.

Please note that from February 2022 Whiteways Lodge car park at Bury Hill is no longer free. Current charges are 70p per hour to a maximum of £2.80 for 5 hours
We are exploring the possibility of having a day long charge implemented as the current tariff does not provide for day long walks

Don't Lose Your Way Ramblers Initiative
The Ramblers' Don't Lose Your Way campaign has found 49,138 miles of rights of way missing from the definitive map in England and Wales - ( 852 miles in West Sussex alone !)
49,138 miles of historic paths – enough to stretch around the world nearly twice – are missing from official maps in England and Wales, the Ramblers reveals today. These paths are a vital part of our heritage, describing how people have travelled over the centuries within their communities and beyond. At a time when more than ever, we recognise the importance of being able to easily access green space and connect with nature, it is vital that we create better walking routes to enable everyone to explore the countryside and our towns and cities on foot.
This follows a mass ‘citizen geography’ project launched in February this year – part of the Ramblers’ Don’t Lose Your Way campaign – which saw thousands of volunteers join forces to find all these lost rights of way.
Well over 140,000 miles of public paths criss-cross England and Wales. This network has evolved over centuries with many paths dating back to medieval times - or earlier! These paths link villages, hamlets, roads and towns – they describe how generations before us travelled to the pub, field or shops and reflect the changing patterns of human interaction with the landscape. To this day, millions of people across our towns, cities and countryside, use this fantastic network.

The new General Data Protection Regulations came into force in May 2019 and contain strict conditions about the nature of personal information that organisations keep and use. This regulation determines how we the Arun-Adur Group and Ramblers centrally can contact you.
Ramblers central office is responsible for maintaining your membership and preference details and ensuring that local groups are supplied with the correct data. So please ensure that the details you have registered with Ramblers and especially your email address and contact preferences are up to date.
You can do this by following this link Ramblers, login to your account, then select "My account" and click on "Update profile".
Please then check all the sections - Personal details - Address and telephone number - Email address and password - Your group (area - Sussex, group Arun-Adur) - and Contact Preferences
Contact details: Would you please check the details 'Ramblers' head office hold about you i.e. your phone number, especially your email address and home address. Our information comes from them on a monthly basis, so if your details are not up-to-date we receive the incorrect information. To check this, go into 'Ramblers' web-site and log-in. This should bring up your details which can then be amended as neccessary.
