We are a very friendly group and we hope that you are able to join us at one of our social events. Many of the walks, especially the mid-week ones, include the opportunity to have refreshements and a chat afterwards.
At the present time, we do not have a Social Secretary so if you have an idea for an event you would like to run/host, please let any member of the committee know.
Informal WhatsApp Group
One of our members, Joanne, has set up an INFORMAL Whatsapp group which is used to share photos of walks, organise lift sharing and sometimes to relay information/news. It is very much a social group and not an official Rambers method of communication, hence the usual proctections provided by GDPR do not apply, e.g. everyone in the group will have access to all phone numbers etc. If you would like to be added, please let Joanne or any of the committee members know by speaking to them on a walk. Due to the nature of this WhatsApp group, no-one will be added unless they are regular walkers with Arun-Adur.

Summer Gathering Friday, 14th August 1-5pm
Following Last year’s very successful Summer Gathering, we will do it all over again. (Subject to weather conditions.)
It will be held on the green, Marine Drive, Worthing (west of Sea Lane Cafe)
Please bring whatever you’d like to eat and drink for the afternoon. (Sea Lane Café also sells rather pricey refreshments)
If you have garden games, such as petanque, quoits, or similar, please bring them along to share. I will bring my trusty pink football.
Note: Last year, there was not much shade available.
Toilets are available at Sea Lane Café.
See you there. Fingers crossed for nice weather.

Having had two successful years using Daish Coaches for our trip I have decided to stay with them for October 2026 – they are not luxurious but I believe provide value for money as they include half-board hotels and coach travel from Sussex.
This year’s venue is the Abbey Lawn Hotel (www.abbeylawnhotel.co.uk) in Torquay from Friday 16th October until Tuesday 20th October with coach pick-up points from Shoreham, Worthing, Arundel and Chichester.
Walks will be arranged on Saturday, Sunday and Monday with hopefully 3 separate walks each day of differing lengths & difficulty.
Costs are:
£305 per person sharing a double/twin room (7 rooms reserved with more available)
£315 per person in a standard single (6 reserved)
£330 per person in a single with garden views (3 reserved)
£455 per person in a double room for single occupancy (7 reserved)
If you wish to join us please email Mike on
Once a room is confirmed a non-returnable deposit of £50-00 will be required - The Ramblers Association, Sort Code 60 83 01 Account Number 20356271 Please email both Mike and cc our Treasurer
Please feel free to make your own travel & accommodation arrangements and just join us for the walking – the nearest Premier Inn to the Abbey Lawn is quoting £256 for room only for 4 nights with immediate payment but cancellation available up to 28 days before start date. There are many other hotel or B&B options in Torquay.
I plan to set up a WhatsApp group so when booking please confirm you wish to join this group and provide the mobile number you wish to use.
