We are a very friendly group and we hope that you are able to join us at one of our social events. Many of the walks, especially the mid-week ones, include the opportunity to have refreshements and a chat afterwards.
At the present time, we do not have a Social Secretary so if you have an idea for an event you would like to run/host, please let any member of the committee know.
Informal WhatsApp Group
One of our members, Joanne, has set up an INFORMAL Whatsapp group which is used to share photos of walks, organise lift sharing and sometimes to relay information/news. It is very much a social group and not an official Rambers method of communication, hence the usual proctections provided by GDPR do not apply, e.g. everyone in the group will have access to all phone numbers etc. If you would like to be added, please let Joanne or any of the committee members know by speaking to them on a walk. Due to the nature of this WhatsApp group, no-one will be added unless they are regular walkers with Arun-Adur.
Photography Walk
FRIDAY 30TH OCTOBER AT KITHURST car park 10.00
The idea is to walk about 4.5 miles - on the Downs, leisurely - stopping to take photos and observing the wild life etc. so for anyone wanting to use mobiles, conventional cameras etc - with, or without experience etc. I’m more than happy to help, and I know we’ve got photographers, wild life experts in our Group. - walk right along SDW for about 3/4 mile turn left - follow track , left again to make a circular walk. There are some lovely rolling views etc. Naturally, coffee and cake afterwards. NB - all subject to weather, make a final decision on the day ! A
Friday 13th November - Shuffleboard Evening - BOOKING OPEN 1ST OCTOBER
What is it?
Shuffleboard is a fun and easy game where players slide metal pucks (also called weights) down a long wooden table, aiming to land them in the scoring zones.
If you’ve never played before, don’t worry — it’s quick and easy to pick up and no previous skill or experience is needed!
We’ll be playing in teams of 3 or 4, depending on the final numbers, and there will be prizes for the winning team(s).
Venue & Food
We’ll be at the lovely East Preston and Kingston Village Hall, BN16 1LP in the Warren Room https://epkvh.co.uk/ Please arrive at 7.30pm for a prompt 7.45 pm start. There is a carpark attached to the hall and free parking on the nearby roads.
Please bring your own nibbles and drinks. Alcohol is allowed.
There won’t be a formal break, but there will be times when you’re sitting and watching the action, so you’ll have opportunities to snack and imbibe.
Cost
The cost is £9 per person, which represents excellent value and covers the hire of the hall, plus the expert shuffleboard men who will be providing the boards and organising the evening.
Friends, partners and family members are all very welcome — the more the merrier!
A maximum of 25–30 people would be ideal, so please book your place as soon as you can.
